Anyone have a list of frame numbers??
I got an email tonight about another possible LV survivor:

Quote:
Cartersville, GA at the Gerdau Ameristeel Plant.
WAMX 804 an SW of some sort that has a frame # of 7536-1..
I was told this is an ex LV unit.. Any way of confirming??

can anyone trace that frame number?
thanks!

Sorry to resurrect this long moribund thread, but this seems the best I could do when conducting a search. Here is my question; has anyone ever taken a photo of an EMD frame number? I know where they are located on a unit. I know what they signify. I have been attempting to try to get a NON-RAIL ENTHUSIAST company representative to read the number to me so that I can try to find out the heritage of a unit in their possession. I realize that these numbers are hard to read and probably covered with, who knows how many layers of paint, but it seems to me that someone, sometime, must have photographed one. If there was a photo of an example, I could try to send it via e-mail so this person would know what to look for. But, thus far, no luck when searching the internet. If I was close to the unit, I could try to read it myself, but a thousand miles is a long way to go. Any help appreciated! Thanks.

Side of frame, near one of the step wells, on GP and switchers. Rear of unit, on engineer's side, of Es and Fs.

FL9 NH 2049, built Oct 1960. Unit was 10th from last in the order, hence the "20" number. Taken when being prepped for painting as NH 2019 at RMNE (loco's current identity).
