Getting far more difficult to find. Are there still sources for cotton waste pads as used in friction bearing trucks? We'd like to swap out the originals on MEC 470 after draining the journals.

Try J. David Conrad at the Valley Railroad. Failing that try Unity Railway Supply, 630-595-4560. If that doesn't work contact
Cleveland Cotton Products PO Box 6500 Cleveland OH 44101 (800) 321-2840 Ask for Dave Reslock ext. 1171

Richard,

A replacement trick I've seen done that actually works quite well, at least for the strand style cotton waste, is to go to almost any store and buy a mop and cut it apart. We've used that technique a few times with good results.
