The Kentucky Railway Museum is pleased to announce "Crew 152", our capital campaign to return 1905 Rogers-built L&N Pacific #152 to operation. Our initial goal is to raise $60,000 to provide for engine disassembly and an engineering survey of the boiler and running gear to determine the extent of work needed to receive FRA certification to operate again under the current steam locomotive regulations.

All of you here on RYPN know how difficult it is to establish a timeline and cost estimate until the boiler survey is completed, but we are targeting July 2015 for a restoration start date and July 2017 for the return to operational status. There will be provisions for an ongoing maintenance fund to ensure that money is set aside and available for the next 15 year inspection/rebuild.

An account specifically for this restoration effort has been set up with Edward Jones Investments and we will regularly publish the status of fundraising and work on the locomotive via our Facebook page:

and on Twitter:

You can also visit and donate through our website: http://www.kyrail.org

We ask for your help and support as we return this beautiful locomotive to back to service!

Just a quick update to bring all of you up to date on our Crew 152 capital campaign. To date, we have raised nearly $11,000 toward our $60,000 initial goal! The members of the KRM Board of Directors have also personally pledged to contribute more than $26,000 over the next four years to the restoration effort.

If you have already donated, thank you for your generous contribution! If not, please consider supporting KRM and visit our website, http://www.kyrail.org to make a financial gift.

In other news, work continues on the Cardinal, our M55 Brill Car, GP-7 #309 is being repainted into an early L&N diesel paint scheme, and we are developing a capital campaign to restore several passenger cars into a trainset that we can be proud of that will meet the expectations of our everyday guests and historic rail preservationists alike. Please support us when and where you can!
