Post subject:  EBT movies to be shown at NRHS meeting

I'm posting this for a friend.

“East Broad Top narrow gauge railroad scenes: 1954-1956 & 1960” will be the subject of a 16 mm movie, produced by railroad historian Frank Kyper, shown to Harrisburg Chapter National Railway Historical Society October 14 at Hoss’s Restaurant, 743 Wertzville Rd., Enola, PA. Business meeting and speaker begin at 7 pm, with a meal available as early as 5 pm. Dinner and meeting are open to the public.

Kyper is the author a recently published book: Twilight and Dawn on the East Broad Top Railroad 1945-1965.

For more than forty years, Frank Kyper has had successful careers as: passenger railroad worker; railroad historian (including authoring and co-authoring books, newsletter editorship, and penning magazine articles); public relations executive; and magazine editor.

I hope you won't mind if I piggyback on your announcement. If people can't make the Harrisburg Chapter NRHS showing, there is another opportunity:

Frank Kyper will be sharing his movie and new book about the EBT with attendees of the Friends of the East Broad Top Fall Reunion in Rockhill Furnace, PA. The movie will be shown on Friday evening, Oct 10. Mr. Kyper will be signing copies of his new book on Saturday, Oct 11.

I think its a cool idea to show EBT, get some interest on the line. I just joined the EBT Yahoo group and the FEBT has plenty of activities going on despite no running, but the owner gave permission to run a speeder for the upcoming reunion, so a little fun going on.
But much of the ROW needs clearing so any helpers could help for that, but must become an FEBT member to do so.

Please take the opportunity to beg for access to the EBT blueprint/drawing archive.

There would be a lot more miniature EBT locomtives running, and a lot of happy EBT livsteamers around, if their archive was made available to that chapter on the NRHS.

Are there any plans to digitize this fascinating-sounding film and put it on a DVD so others who cannot attend either meeting will be able to buy copies? I would think that this is one thing the NRHS could get involved in, to make rare old railroad films available to the public. The monies gotten from such sales could then be another source of funds for the grants the NRHS already gives to various worthy railroad preservation efforts -- IF the NRHS survives.

NRHS already has a project in progress to digitize and restore 18 hours of 8 mm film....

one issue that is involved here involves copyrights
