I wanted to download a patent issued to Erastus B. Kunkle for a safety valve, U.S.P. No. 417,945, granted June 28, 1892. Tried to do it with the free patent download software I’ve used in the past, but a message said I can’t open that application “because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.” I presume that means not supported by the operating system currently on my Mac desktop, which is OS X Version 10.7.5, called “Lion.” Am wondering whether other forum members could refer me to free patent download software they have successfully used, so I could give it a try. |

Two great free places for getting pdf's of US patents: 1. United States Patent Office now offers free downloads of US patents in pdf form. Link for a patent number is: http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.htm 2. Google patents - https://www.google.com/?tbm=pts&gws_rd=ssl sounds like either your number is incorrect - or the date of issue.US417945 is for a window screen - issued 12/24/1889. Try US477,945 - that sounds like the right number. For older numbers - google patents is the way to search for inventors/subjects. Bob |
