Post subject:  AAM membership among railway museums

Hello Everyone,

Among the railway museums represented on this site, how many of these museums are institutional members of the AAM (American Alliance of Museums)? I am collecting data for a class I am currently enrolled in.

Thanks,
Steve Piwowarki

I am not aware that either Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum or the Southern Arizona Transportation Museum (subsidiary of Old Pueblo Trolley, Inc.) are members of AAM (someone please correct me if I am wrong).

If you check their website:
http://www.aam-us.org/about-museums/find-a-museum
and under search by type select Transportation Museums you will get a list

Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum

Not an AAM member, we were previously. These association memberships add up, so we looked at with whom we were actually participating.

Our current memberships:

ATTRM
Maine Association of Nonprofits (seminars on nonprofit finance, governance, etc. Lobbying)
Maine Assoc. of Museums (seminars, staff training)
New England Museum Assoc. (seminars, staff training)
American Society for State and Local History (I think)
