Looking for some info on these former UP E-9s rebuilt and operated by the C&NW.
Anyone know how long the C&NW operated them? How many were (re)built? And, what did the interior of the cab look like?
Any info on these "unique" units would be appreciated. Thanks.

Allan, Kalmbach's Contemporary Diesel Spotters Guide indicates the locomotives were outshopped in 1973, and all were cponverted from former UPRR E-9B units. There were eleven total. Personally, I noted Crandall Cabs working CNW/Metra trains as late as 1984, the last year I lived in the Chicago area.

Interesting locomotives! If I recall, CNW's designation for these locos was "AB9".

Thanks. They ran a lot longer than I thought.

At the time, I thought they looked awful - now I almost miss them...

Ugly is definately the word for them, but that's part of what makes them interesting to me. Then again, anything Northwestern Green and Yellow interests me...
