I am looking for information about Train No. 39, THE IMPERIAL on Aug. 6-7, 1948. Was this train steam or diesel powered during this time period?
I traveled from Chicago to San Diego via Rock Island, Southern Pacific, and San Diego & Arizona Eastern. I recall steam on SP and SDAE but I do not remember what pulled our train over RL. I would appreciate any information from anyone on this matter. Also how many miles did RI operate engines between exchange points?
