Just got the run of the Santa Fe's "Instructions for Enginemen". Great stuff--late steam. This is a wonderful book on "the care, maintenance, and economical operation of the steam locomotive". I ran 100 books and they contain all the additional pullouts, addendums, and additional rules current until the late 1940's. Really cool section on those firefighting steam locomotives Santa Fe had and how they were operated. Go have a look if it interests you. Bill Petetjean's "End of Steam" and the "Layout, Construction, and Repair of Locomotive Boilers" should be done in the next few weeks. Follow the link! Steam tech books ken290@hiwaay.net |
