We have compiled a short video documenting the restoration and the move of the Southern 1200 for the Smithsonian last November. Please share this video with all of your train and restoration fans. The Southern 1200 will be and is the biggest display in the new museum. It was a great honor to have performed the restoration and also to have been able to install the car more than 60 feet under ground. Hope you enjoy this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF_TZiG ... AD3c9SEJDw |

I wonder if the 1200 still had wooden handles on the switches in the electrical locker? TVRM's 1688 still had wooden handled knife switches in use when I worked on her. |

Actually, all of the handles themselves were some type of early generation plastic/carbon handles. The car did have a large knife switch electrical board in it, removed and replaced with all code power connections. Kindly, |

Quote: Actually, all of the handles themselves were some type of early generation plastic/carbon handles. Bakelite plastic probably. Used on alot of first generation electrical components as an insulator. |
