Bryant turnout

Hi,

I do not know how many people know of the Bryant Turnout. The only place I know they were used was on the first 2' gauge railroad - the Bedford and Billerica in Mass.

It a an attempt to go beyond the stub turnout.

I built one in 7.5" gauge before I got it installed, I lost my job and got out of Live Steam.

There is a historical group for the B&B. I'd like to give them my switch. However, I can not drive (can not afford insurance Georgia requires).

I was wondering if there might be a way to sort of relay (each person taking it say 50-100 miles from Atlanta to Boston) the 14' long, 3' wide, 2' tall, 30-odd pound model up to them. I have some 12 photos plus an article on the Bryant from a 1971 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

At 14' long, this is beyond UPS/FedEx. It is motor freight. Probably a few hundred dollars. The shipping of my 4.75" gauge 1.5" scale Live Steamer (about 190 pounds) in 1985 from Washington State to Atlanta was about $300. This does not include the crating cost.

As far as the B&B historical group, I tried c2012 to give it to them but it did not work out because of the size and logistics. I contacted them again but have not heard back.

give them a shout, they have a 7.5" gauge line, perhaps they can make use or start a buzz to help you out.

Okay I see it now, it literally has 2 points, but its like a hybrid stub/point with a spring switch concept. Reversed, a trailing main move will just pop the point over, but a main and reverse move the cars will lump over the rail but safely, explains the point guard rails.

Looks like an idea with the mind still on a stub switch (the user only trusting a solid rail connection with the idea of introducing a the point concept to prove a point you might say to a person distrusting the design...making the sell)

Veddddy interesting, and not so sthupid either...

I'm sure one of those NGLS guys would pick it up at your house and write you a thank you letter. You might even get a brass tag placed on it to identify what it is and who built it.

Hi,

I hate to admit it, but I forgot about the NGLS. I was a member from about 1987 to about 2001. The group from the Southeastern Railroad Museum days fractured and split when the Atlanta Chapter NRHS moved.
