History San Jose has been able to develop a partnership with Google's Cultural Institute providing a world wide audience to our facility. Our 14 acre History Park contains over two dozen buildings, many are relocated landmarked homes, each of which contains its own exhibits, similar to the Henry Ford Museum.

Working with Google, we were able to get street view capability through the park. More recently with their Google Cultural Institute, we now can offer interior views of select structures, including our trolley barn which is hosted by the California Trolley and Railroad Corporation. see link below

With such a large park space and limited resources, many of our museum structures are often closed to visitors particularly during weekdays, due to the lack of available docents. Visitors, both at the park and worldwide, will now be able to virtually take themselves through selected buildings, such as the trolley barn. While there is more work to be done, such as increasing our on-site WiFi abilities and improving our web based content, the museum is excited with this new capability to enhance our visitor's experience.

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

So has anyone managed Google Rail View with a rail-mounted camera vehicle?

Though I'm not sure whether being able to see the scenic wonders of the Durango & Silverton, Verde Canyon, Western Md. Scenic, etc. from one's computer monitors would fall under "removal of incentive" or "marketing tool".......
