Former D&RGW combination car No. 211 has recently been moved from the Sundown & Southern site near Ft. Lupton, CO to private property nearby, awaiting further shipment. Its going to take a lot of work to bring the 211 back to life. I hope it is not a task beyond it's new owners. Good luck! By the way, what is the story behind the car in the background? Amazingly, it's a prototype "Diesel Multiple Unit" commuter car, developed by Fort Lupon neighbor Colorado Railcar. If you're not used to thinking in terms of the British DMU, think of a new-generation RDC. Below should be a link to a Denver Post article on the company. NKP54 is the last wooden coach remaining from the NKP. It was last used as the kitchen car on the Bellevue wrecker. The car as are all wooden cars that are stored outside is rapidly deteriorating. There is a lot of the mahogany wood work left but the full empire ceiling is dteriorating, the stained glass arch windows are in safe keeping elsehere. The iron floor and all the running gear is there, you could even go for a short trip to test the riding quality. The car is offered free to anyone willing to give it a good home. lamontdc@adelphia.net |

Hi, I was just curious, but where is it and who has it? Do you have any pictures? Any wood passenger car deserves to be saved. Noone is going to mass produce anymore. Just my opinion, Stuart btw: Anyone have a No. 6 style distributing valve they would like to part with (preferably cheap) so I can restore the brakes on a 1941 20 ton Davenport? It doesn't have to be rebuilt, just restoreable. Let me know!! Thanks :-) gnufe@apex.net |
