Post subject:  Great Northern F3A with plow

These three photographs came into my temporary possession along with some other drawings which will be sent to a permanent preservation facility. Commonwealth Casting was trying to sell locomotive mounted plows for F units to a potential buyer. These three photos were included in the ad pitch. Thought I'd share.

The F5 is mentioned in EMD's Catalog 90 (the massive, multi-volume EMD master parts catalog), so yes, it is "real".

Commonwealth was another railroad supply company that was watching as 95% of it's product line became buggy whips in 1950, as steam went away. They had to try anything to stay alive. These didn't sell very well, though.
