The linked photo is by Richard Glueck, and is from George ElwoodÂ’s railroad photo site: rr-fallenflags.org . The photo is dated 7-02. The locomotive being scrapped is a MEC GP-40. I am particularly interested in the three passenger cars located behind the locomotive. What is their history? Who owns them now? What are the future plans for them? I hope they are not next in line for the torch. Fallen Flags and Short Line Railroad Photos ![]() rrhistorian@hotmail.com |

The passenger cars are gutted and in the process of being sliced up piecemeal. One is a former Amtrak car, one is an ex-New Haven, and one is Maine Central. Each time I get to Waterville, I see a little more cutting on these cars. The interiors are heavily covered with spray painted messages from drug users. The brake running gear has been sliced with a torch. I can find no evidence of car names on the units. The New Haven car still has a door inside with the NH script logo applied to it. glueck@maine.edu |
