I was searching for some photos of the Ontario and Western's Rome, NY roundhouse, three stalls of which were, until recently at least, still standing in decrepit condition. Found this Flikr page where a comment states that it was torn down "last fall" as of 9 months ago - interpreting this to mean the fall of 2013. https://www.flickr.com/photos/97630304@N02/9069410160/ The structure still shows up in Google Earth, though that data can often be a few years old. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Rome, ... 716cfcb3f7 Can anyone confirm or deny that the structure has been destroyed? |

They must have removed it in that time frame, because this last spring (2014) it was gone. I looked for it every trip I made up that way, and noticed it missing, on one of the first loads up there in 2014. On a side note, the old turntable on the south side of the old NYC tracks in Utica is still there (NYSQ&W owner.. ??). Had a little time one morning and went exploring.... tree's a foot across, grown up thru it. Farmer. |

This was one of the O&W relics still on my "go see soon" list. From the looks of the Google image, it was pretty much just walls by the end. What's the story on it's life post-Old Woman? Rob |
