This question is for anyone in the know, I guess...is there some sort of schedule published, or website/Facebook page that will indicate a schedule for 0-4-0 Viscose Company #6 for 2015? It seems like whenever she shows up somewhere, local newspapers and individual railroad's websites advertise the event, but there's no central location that I can find where this information can be found. Does anyone know (who is able to post this information publicly) of a schedule or places that this traveling tank engine will be visiting this year? I know the Gramlings have both their Facebook page and website, which is awesome - but I'd love to have more opportunities to catch #6 out and about. Can anyone divulge this information or point me in a direction to find out? Thanks! |

Scott likes to do things in a fairly quiet way; remember the locomotive is privately owned - he's neither a museum, company nor a railroad - he's a contractor/trucker that has a particular love for these little guys and likes to have a place to periodically operate them with at least some cost recovery. "Most" of his operations have either been with the Gramlings or with their on-site assistance, so finding out via them on what Scott's plans are may still be the best way. I did check out the Gramling's web page (which is through May '15) and I don't see anything going on up this way. He does tend to confine his activities within a fairly narrow range of home and a handful of places he's been to on a return basis. That includes the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad, Lake Shore Railway Historical Society, Arcade & Attica Railroad, New York & Lake Erie railroad, and some notable one-timers in the Western NY region. I'd keep an eye on those. None have 2015 schedules posted yet though. I've been to several events including some 'doubleheaders' with Gramling's 75, and all I can say is that when it does get run, make the effort to go there, as the portability of #6 is not a reflection on how much fun it is to watch or to appreciate his work. |

Ok - thanks for the information. I'll try to remember to check those websites a little later this year. I remember also seeing #6 at Western Maryland Scenic RR a couple of years ago (with Flagg Coal #75 - #6 does put on one heck of a show), and at other Train Festivals - so the engine does travel outside of that range, but not that often, my guess is. I can understand doing things in a quiet way - I'm just wishing there was an easier way to find out where the engine will be. :) |

For those of you not familiar with the locomotive, here's what we look forward to around here: http://youtu.be/MMImSkwBb08 It's kind of an "0-8-0 the hard way" but on a water-level railroad like the OC&T, the pair can handle the full train. This was a particularly interesting and rare-mileage run - the remnants of the DAV&P at Titusville (NYC) from Titusville to East Titusville, part of which is edge-of-the-street running in the City. |

I seem to recall some description of this system using a ÷ (division sign) for regular automatic couplers. 0-4-0÷0-4-0 |
