National Capital Trolley Museum (NCTM) rededicated Third Avenue Railway (TARS) 678 on Saturday, January 17, 2015. Larry Gaul, son of the late David Gaul, cut the ribbon in memory of his father. The late David Gaul was a native New Yorker, former president of Transit Research Corp. and Museum member who spent many years in retirement restoring TARS 678.

The 20-year project included removal of most modifications made by the shops in Vienna, Austria, plus installation of new rubber flooring, new rattan upholstery, new canvas roof, and complete repainting.

Do the exit doors use a treadle or a mat? How is the exit step interlocked?
I'm looking for information to help with fully restoring 629.

We did not restore the treadle exit feature. I recall Seashore restored the treadle door. Perhaps someone can provide an answer.

Really Nice to see the car back in service. Congrats to everyone at the museum for making this happen.
