This little Baldwin, built for a shortline coal hauler in West Virginia, survives today:

A rather poor (postcard?) photo of the engine in service on KGJ&E shows an interesting detail--a slope backed tender. And she's the line's passenger engine, too:

How often do you see a 2-8-2 with a slope back tender?

A Brill? Can a doodlebug expert say? And check out the single axle trailing "truck:"

This engine was sold in 1964 to the Everett Railroad. The tender that is with the engine now is not the original. It came off #10 a 2-8-0 after she was scrapped in 1952. Interestingly enough, this tender also was behind #12 0-6-0 (Southern Railway 1643)for some time in the 50's too.

I find it interesting that of the Morehead and North Fork Railroad, there are 3 steamers and 2 of them are being restored to operating conditon this year. These would be #12 at the Age of Steam Roundhouse, and #14 (0-6-0) Ex Union 77 at the Big South Fork Railway in Stearns KY.

#11 has a unique builders number too #33333.
