I was on the Facebook page of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and saw a photo from the URHS with New York Central E unit 4083. Was surprised at her paint scheme so checked the internet and found this:

Hadn't heard about this and I don't think its been on RyPN. One question; is the 4083 operable?

Since its not operational and given the time period it represents, should the safety appliances (hand grabs) be painted a contrasting color?

The grab irons were painted the same color as the carbody as this pic shows.

Yup, No contrasting colors. But they forgot the "dirt" above the trucks. Aren't they going to weather it prototypically? :-)

Here is a link,last in service 84 for metro north,Had 1 bad prime mover but I was told
both were done along with many other issues,
