This afternoon I received an email announcing the upcoming auction of the assets of the closed Evraz Claymont Steel mill:

http://www.biditup.com/auction/898/EVRA ... TE+MELTING

The announcement includes several EMD end-cab switchers, gondola cars, flat cars, rail, shop equipment, etc. I mention it here in hopes that those involved in restoration and operation activities might find something they can use before it goes to scrap.

I have been wondering the same thing about the CN cars, just could not get a good enough photo to get the car numbers to have them traced.

You also need to read the term you have to meet in order to bid. 25 percent deposit based on the amount you want to bid, just to get a bidder's number and be allowed to bid. Then the buyers' premium is 18 percent.

This will be a rich boys auction.

The number on the gondola looks to be CN188323

And it says there are 77 gondolas and 12 flat cars

(77) Gondola Type Rail Cars, Up To 80-Ton Capacity
(12) Flat Bed Type Rail Cars, Up To 100-Ton Capacity

They had some Alco switchers into early 2000's, dont know if they are still there or have spare parts for them.
