An article in the Roanoke Times: Norfolk Southern names James Squires as CEO

Quote:
Squires will replace 63-year-old Charles “Wick” Moorman on June 1. Moorman, who has been CEO for about nine years, will stay on as executive chairman of the company’s board.

I wonder how this shift in power will affect the 21st Century Steam program, especially with 611's restoration nearing completion.

I was also wondering about his stance on Steam Power. Anyone able to enlighten us?

I don't know what will happen to steam program? I think it will be here for 2015 I think the steam program brought so much good PR and no problems during the 4 year span there was no problems that I can think of. The program was well handled and done well there's no need to cancel it. I have been wrong before

We could wait for the man himself to express any opinions he may have about it and save a lot of bother and useless speculation.

Yeah, isn't speculation in the absence of solid info what the internet is for?

With the money that NS has invested in the Steam Program, whether it be rebuilding 6 new passenger cars or paying for 630, 4501, and basically 611's rebuilds I think that steam will be here to stay for many many years to come at NS. As it says, Wick will stay on as Chairman and after that would probably stay on the board as did Graham and Bob Claytor did. So in my total unprofessional opinion, I believe that steam will be around at NS for years to come and now lets support the new President and CEO.
