I believe you are referring to Roger KIRKpatrick, or as he is listed as author of Captive Cabeese in America, S. Roger Kirkpatrick.

My copy of the book, published in 2000, gives the following contact information:

S. Roger Kirkpatrick
113 West 17th Street
Leadville, CO 80461

and an email of caboose AT chaffee DOT net (of course, eliminate the spaces and substitute for the capitalized words)

He posts here on RyPN with user name "caboose9" and his last visit to this site was in May 2014. His signature includes the website http://www.arches.org (you might see if you can contact him through that site). His profile for RyPN places him in Cortez, CO 81321.

Some 2010 and 2011 postings over on railroadfan.com (username still caboose9) have him at an address in Marietta, OH. He seems to get around.

Hope this gets you started...someone else may be able to provide more current contact information.

The .edu address for him is indeed the correct one. He moved from Colorado to Ohio some time ago.

Reactivating this old thread, I'm looking for Roger Kirkpatrick too. He and I used to send emails back and forth until they suddenly stopped. His last email address was

waycar1936@yahoo.com

I've not found an obituary for him but if he's still alive he'd be in his upper 80s. Does anyone know his current status?

Most recent info I have:

S. Roger Kirkpatrick, 927 Colegate Drive, Marietta, OH 45750-1504, 740-374-6732, fax: 740-376-4777.

But be forewarned I found that during a VERY deep dive looking for obits, estate executor advertisements, etc. If he's still alive he'll be 89 this year.

Contacting Marietta College's alumni department may be a start--a donation "In Honor Of" (NOT "In Memory Of") Roger was made in 2018 by another alumnus....

Thanks for checking! I looked through my past emails and the last one I received from him was dated December 22, 2022, when he gave me his current home address and his waycar1936 email address. Since then, nothing. I sent many emails, never received a reply, checked online for an obituary or a sign of life, but found nothing. At his age, it's unlikely he'll ever turn up.

One last word on Roger. I checked his home address online and it's listed as having been sold on 09/11/23, an indication that he's no longer there, and he hasn't turned up anywhere else.
