In reading the flimsy about the Nevada Northern Museum the following statment caught my eye;

"Because we run our trains with a volunteer crew even if our trains go out with just a nominal amount of passengers, we still made money. By the way, it takes over eight volunteers to crew a train and sell tickets"

Cash is flowing yes but what is the real cost of transporting a passenger? Many questions come to mind in calculating this cost but since I am not an accountant I will leave that to the pros. How many operations are there out there have calculated the real ticket cost and what part of the total cost is the farebox supposed to represent???
