New England Steam Corporation has posted updates with photos on both its Facebook page and website.

Purchase of the locomotive will go through in the coming weeks, with full cooperation from the city and its management personnel. Valve chest and right cylinder are smooth, clean, and free of corrosion.

I neglected to mention, there will be a second "470 Night", hosted by Governor's Restaurant in Bangor, Maine, April 29, 4PM through 8PM.

Didn't see a recent update for MEC 470 so I'm posting my video tour here. Wanted to see the steamer before it was moved to it's New Home @ the Downeast Scenic Railroad. This was taken before the 2015 LCCA Convention.

We post our regular updates either on our website or on Facebook. If you're a member, you get email updates as milestones pass.

In brief, the plan to remove the locomotive is being completed, while the tender removal plan is finished. Our paperwork, bond, contracts, and insurance are mostly finished. A major work session is being planned for the near future. The site is being readied, but much of what is happening is stuff a general observer won't necessarily see. We recently worked on lubricating the locomotive driver bearings and oil cellars on the pony truck.

The media and our members will know in advance of the removal. In some respects, the hardest part of moving a locomotive is the paperwork.

Expect news soon.
