Here is a great shot of a back wreck. http://digital.denverlibrary.org/cdm/re ... 2/id/72229 This 0-4-0T belonged to Olympic Portland Cement at Bellingham, WA. They are known to have had two Vulcan 0-4-0Ts, a 35 ton and a 22 ton. Anybody have any idea which this would be? |

It appears there was another freight car involved as there are two pair of trucks visible behind the 0-4-0T; one pair being an old pair of arch bar trucks. Maybe it is an old, non-interchange car? |

The other car looks to be a short flat or a home made tender. Olympic shipped their clay in from a pit on the Great Northern so given the GN gon this may be a clay shipment gone wrong. |

The smokebox door and pilot beam are also pretty badly smashed up, which indicates a collision of some kind. Could there have been a second train involved? |

Smashed front and rear, that 0-4-0T got caught in the middle of something. It may have been shoving loads and pulling empties at the same time. If the head car(s) derailed and wedged to a stop, the car coupled to the locomotive may have ridden up and caved in the smoke box and other front end parts. The lighter empties rode up even higher. One imagines there may have been more speed involved than expected from a plant switcher. |

Considering that there is coal all over the top and sides of the loco I would guess that it was a frontal impact. |
