I'll post some photos in this thread, but I am updating an inventory list of what is found "in the woods" next to the 195. A couple of tenders, small equipment and combustion engines, dozers, truck sets, and the remains of some freight cars. If you want better views of certain parts, I can take more if you like.

Some of the parts are obvious, but if you would share what you know about which trucks went under which cars, that would be most appreciated. I've posted the same on NGDF but realize there are some talented individuals here who may not read both pages.

Well, I was about to postulate that the T section truck came under a car bought second hand from the C&S, when I noticed one of the wheelsets in that truck has C&S cast in. Interesting how the top of the journal box was cut out to salvage the lid hinge lug.

I recall Dave Grandt telling me he did a lot of research for C&S parts up in Skagway, but I don't remember which cars.

Likewise the U section cast steel truck with the Pacific Car & Foundry has a D&RGW wheelset. The only U section trucks I can think of on the Rio Grande were under the UTLX tank cars, but of course, the wheelset may not be with the truck it came in any longer.

The drop bottom gon does not look like anything from Colorado; almost looks like an Otis patent car, as were popular in Canada.

I'll be in Skagway very soon, I'll make a point of looking at this stuff to see if I can ID some it. Wouldn't be shocked if some of it came from the Army gathering seemingly random 3-footer stuff from all over the place during WW2...

The item in the middle of the last photo is a single-cylinder, hit-and-miss type, hopper-cooled stationary engine, which appears to be missing it's cylinder head, among other parts. It is also laying on it's side.

I'm impressed at how well some of the cars have fared after nearly being overcome by nature. Some of them (cosmetically) look like you could slap a pair of trucks on them and run them.

Regarding the Pacific Car and Foundry truck.

I have a few White Pass & Yukon Route roster lists that date between 1968 and 1978. These give car numbers dimensions and make of trucks, size and kind of wheels and couplers. Flat cars 1020-1026 are listed as having PC&Fdry trucks.

The roster of WP&YR equipment that is on the Wikipedia indicates that cars in this number series were purchased in at least two orders, new from Pacific Car and Foundry in 1957 and 1961.

I dug out a copy of WP&YR equipment diagrams that I have.

Photos 8, 9, 10, 11 appear to match drop-bottom gondolas 801-805. These were 7-bay cars that were built by PC&F, Seattle, Wash. The diagram sheet carries the date of "Feb. 1940" this could be either a built date or a purchase date.
