Frisco 4-8-2 #1522 will operate two "farewell" trips from the St. Louis Amtrak station to Newburg, MO, on the old Frisco line, on Sept 28-29. Details of schedule, ticket prices and other info are on the web site of the sponsoring St. Louis Chapter, NRHS. St. Louis Chapter, NRHS rdgoldfede@aol.com |

Didn't see anything mentioned about photo runbys, open air cars and the like...if I'm going to travel 400 miles to see the last run I don't really want to be stuck inside an airconditioned soundproofed coach with windows that don't open. The idea is that you get people on the train, not pacing it. This is probably why I have such fond memories of the 614 trips on NJ transit, being able to ride in the open car "sound and fury" and witnessing some of the most earth shattering runbys ever done. b.hume@rogers.com |

That's the beauty of having trips on two days. Why not ride one day and chase the other? parkengines.railfan.net rjenkins@railfan.net |

As this is an Amtrak excursion, Amtrak specs don't allow them. There will be some cars that have vestibule "dutch doors". About runby's? St Louis Chapter almost always does them, and very good ones, where the engine "works" a bit. The exception is when the weather conditions make it impossible. Last summer we actually had a rail-yard runby which was a unique offering. Hope this is of help. Am including the link for the St Louis Chapter NRHS in case you missed the note with the link! -Janice....and Chips!! http://www.stlouisnrhs.org Ladynchips@aol.com |

I just called and purchased a ticket for Sunday. Sounds like a great trip to take. > All mainline railroads these days don't > allow open window coaches.
