| Post subject: | Southern Pacific crossing exempt sign |
back in the 60's there was a crossing at Veterans and Chestnut St in Redwood City that was exempt and it had a plate with the information on it, it was large enough for it to be seen and read by vehicles driving down the road. this informed the drivers that were required to stop before crossing the tracks that they need not stop as this was a little used crossing. I want to replicate this sign. anyone have a picture of one? the current ones are different today and I want the period piece. my memory seems to say that this was a cast metal plate affixed to the cross buck post. the crossing today is protected by traffic lights Pete McFall |
