My cousin who drives big rigs for a job, shot this picture from his truck for me. He says it said Pennsylvania on the side. Does anybody have information on it?

1060 is the proper car number for a Municipal Rwy. of San Francisco (Calif.) Presidents' Conference Committee trolley car, and from its good condition, I suspect it's on its way back from the Brookville Locomotive Works rebuilding factory in Pennsylvania.
Silk Road Transport is a frequent hauler such high value loads, and may sometimes put that name on their mud flaps.

Hi

This is a streamlined PCC car, the later day trolley car or streetcar, predecessor the Light Rail cars of today. A trolley coach, has two poles and rubber tires. But this does look like a coach. The guys at MK (Morrison Knudsen) when they did the cars back in the early 90's referred to them as buss's.

1060, painted as a PTC (Phil. Transit Co), left San Francisco June 3rd, headed for Brookville (Pa.) Equipment. It is one of 16 cars in this overhaul contract. This is the third car to go east.

Cheers

Karl Johnson

Yes, anytime you see a PCC streetcar of any marque moving between Brookville and San Francisco, that'll be an "F" line car unless it's lettered for another historic operation like Kenosha. Each commemorates a different city's transit system, there's even a Detroit car!

This car happens to be telling the truth. Most of the San Francisco fleet were acquired from Philadelphia's original stock which they themselves had overhauled for a heritage operation. This is probably the car's third overhaul for preservation service.

And by the way, if you happen to have reason to move cars of this size between NorCal and the northeast, you really might want to talk to Silk Road. These trucks are often empty on the backhaul.

Back about six years ago, OERM had a Silk Road rig deliver some interurban truck to Perris. While it was at the museum, we had it relocate several cars that had been in the middle of the museum and were not in the best of condition. Most of them went into Barn 7, the Ruffulo Car House, where they would be out of the weather and out of public view.
