Spotted this EMD SW1 that looks like from the Mahoning Valley Railway on a eastbound CSX freight outside Cumberland, MD on June 6th.

Anybody fill in the blanks as to were it may be going.

My understanding is that it was to go to the Hollidaysburg car shops. 466 was built for the Union Railroad, and has been in and around the steel industry since delivery. This will be the first non steel industry related job for the 466.

Amazing how these "obsolete" SW1's keep turning up at new owners.

As a side comment, former Union RR SW1 469 is in daily use at the Tube City scrap processing facility at West Mifflin, PA. They also have a newer EMD, ex-URR 566, but the SW1 is obviously the preferred loco. 469 also served the USS Johnstown & Stoney Creek RR before coming to Tube City.

Question: Is there any SW1 around still serving its original owner today?

Well, technically isn't there one out at Wilmington, DE in Amtrak Service? That should be the only 1 in a Class 1 capacity although built for NYC.
