I know we have had some discussion here about MoW equipment and how it gets little love in the preservation world.

BNSF has just scrapped the Interbay hook, Crane D258 and Idler 966026 have been scrapped this past week.

Also, I recently learned Canadian National retired and scrapped wedge plow 55614. This was a particularly special plow as it was one of only a handful (around 10 ) wedge plows built by the O. F. Jordan Company after Russell left the business.

I would normally react to say, "I hope they at least tried to donate it to one of the local museums" but only Snoqualmie is near there and that'd be quite a trick to get something that big, that far without tracks.
I'd doubt that Chehalis or Mt Rainier would have the room or the need for something like that anyway.

- built by Bucyrus Erie, August 1944 as CB&Q 33767, assigned to Galesburg, Illinois
- renumbered to BN S258 after merger in March 1970.
- rebuilt to diesel power late seventies or early eighties, renumbered to BN D258
- renumbered to BNSF D258 after merger

Being that it spent its career working on the CB&Q, and eventually, BNSF, local could encompass quite a large area. Assuming it still "rolls", I hope the offer was at least made, though now a moot point. Does the Illinois Railroad Museum have a wrecker? Assume they do but can't recall seeing one.

I seem to recall that IRM has one off of the Chicago & Western Indiana. Might be steam powered.

IRM has the C&WI Industrial 100 ton steam wrecker and a Bucyrus 160 ton steam converted to diesel wrecker CNW 6363 from the Cal Ave. coach yard.
