Black triangle sign.

At the WK&S there are a few of these out on the line. I couldn't find any reliable souce as to what they mean so id'd just like to find out, thanks.

If they are just before a grade crossing they are a raise flanger sign.

The flanger runs below the height of the rail and must be raised for
grade crossings, switches, etc.

Also, notice that they are BLACK, to contrast with the WHITE snow.

The Reading Co. left those triangular things behind on the New Hope
& Ivyland RR. They were often found at old Private Crossings.

If they were maintained (not a foregone conclusion in the last years of any operation) they should be present at every crossing, switch, handcar setout, and any other place that there is an obstruction between the rails at near railhead height. Otherwise, the flanger operator risked ripping the blade off the flanger, not to mention tearing up the crossing and possibly derailing the plow.

Some roads used a sign that was a post with a single diagonal blade, also painted black.
