I was just surfing around the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry's web site and looking on the museum map page the area where the 999, Rocket Replica, and O scale layout are has the caption "The Great Train Story, Under Construction, Opens November 22". There's no other mention of this on the site. Are they redoing this area again? I remember when it was redone in the early 1990's that there was some disappointment expressed that nothing in the exhibit was really new. All that was really done was the 999 was moved indoors and everything railroad related at the museum was finally in the same area (except of coarse the CB&Q Zephyr).

The 'O' guage layout is gone. Soon to be replaced by a computer controlled 'HO' layout with 32 trains running simultaineously. Location is such that the layout is supposed to appear as the ground to persons looking out the windows of the 727 on the balcony above.
