Friends of ours took this photo on 55th Street, Clarendon Hills yesterday afternoon 10/08/2015. Is there any info on this passenger car, where from to where to?

The Trains Magazine News wire reports the cars are:

With the PTC deadline looming and no resolution in sight, Amtrak is testing some alternative technologies. |

According to the Great American Stations website: " In June, 2014, the building was acquired by the city using high speed rail funds provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The intent is to restore the building's exterior to its 1911 appearance while providing modern interior amenities. A portion of the renovated building would house a waiting room for Amtrak passengers." |

Another article stated that they were looking at commercial leasing prospects but the exact possibilities would have to await demolition. And to answer my own question, apparently there was quite a bit of space between cars as part of the restaurant used as a dance floor (that's mainly what was demolished before the cars were removed). An enclosed dance floor and bar sat between the two passenger cars, once used as additional dining space for the restaurant. http://www.pantagraph.com/news/local/hi ... 2a4fb.html The original depot will not revert back to serving Amtrak passengers, said Johnson. "We are working with Amtrak in hopes to make some improvements for a waiting area for passengers." And about those cabooses: "Iowa Pacific Holding Co. has purchased the two passenger cars and two cabooses" |

Pictures from the Lincoln Depot move this morning http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/editPi ... id=4317681 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/editPi ... id=4317683 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/editPi ... id=4317676 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/editPi ... id=4317679 I guess the cabooses are going to the Iowa Pacific along with 4202 & 3351. Anyone ID the hacks? Dave |

We're asking $7,500 each for them. Loading will be included if the asking price is met or the offer is acceptable. I have a source for a pair of trucks and couplers at extra cost if one is so inclined." A guy on the board knows how to read ACI tags, which both of them still have, and they are indeed N&W 518391 and N&W 518398. Both are missing their trucks but as the note says they have a pair that they could sell you. |
