An unfortunate reminder of the risks associated with our avocation:

My daughter's family has been regular customers on CMSL's Santa Express for some years and were acquainted with Mr. Gairo.

Our condolences to Mrs. Gairo and her family and to the Seashore Lines family.

This is a terrible tragedy that should not be taken lightly. This should serve as an important reminder to make safety our first and foremost priority in everything we do -- to watch for slips, trips & falls, to maintain 3 points of contact when getting on and off equipment, wearing proper PPE when required and asking for assistance on tasks that should require two persons rather than attempting a difficult task by oneself. These are some of the things that immediately come to mind.

It would be interesting to know if there were any contributing factors that played a role in this accident.
