Since our GE 25tonner arrived at the Museum on November 30th, we have been working towards putting it to good use. We know there are a few issues which need to be resolved, and we'll look after that during the coming months. However, this past Saturday she was put to the test. For the first time since the former CNR diesel shop closed in 1987-89, trains were once again rolling between 2 of the 3 shop tracks. We have been working hard to reach this point, finishing off the track construction at the beginning of November to connect 2 of the tracks. There were many firsts for us on Saturday. Rather than just duplicate the same story her, the entire story, with more pictures and the video of the switching can be found on our website at http://www.nfrm.ca/blog. The video also has some in cab footage showing how we constructed the turnout in a rather unusual, but functional way. Its been a great year for the Niagara Railway Museum Inc. This was the perfect end to our year, and we look forward to even bigger and better things in 2016.
