You've likely seen the pictures and videos of WW&F locomotive #9 lovingly restored to operation after 82 years of inactivity. Now, we are starting our next restoration project, Bridgton and Saco River boxcar 67 and need donations to purchase the necessary materials.

If you are a member of the WW&F museum, you've already received our annual fundraising letter – which was released before car 67 was secured. Members of the WW&F should not consider this appeal for car 67, we deeply appreciate all you have already contributed (or will contribute) to the annual campaign.

Instead, we are offering this opportunity to all of our friends, fans, and followers throughout the world. Here is a way that you can help us continue the mission of the WW&F, to preserve and restore the railroad that was the livelihood of the Sheepscot valley, and educate others on the role of Maine's unique two-foot system of narrow gauge railroads.

You will find all the details on our "GoFundMe" page:
http://www.gofundme.com/car67

Thank you in advance for your generous (and tax-deductible) contribution.

Merry Christmas,
-The Crew at the WW&F
PS: We *may* have a very exciting announcement regarding this campaign shortly – so stay tuned…

67 the day we went down to Portland to clean out the car, brace the interior and tarp it for trucking. We had help in Portland from the Maine Narrow Gauge crew and Maine Locomotive and Machine crew. Maine Locomotive and Machine took the other two Bridgeton boxcars for restoration.

The next week we went back to Portland to jack the car up and put trucks under the car.

Got out my copy of "the Maine Two-Footers" by Linwood W. Moody and there in a photo facing page 132 is a picture of a tank car, B&SR box car #47 and at the end of the string what appears to be B&SR boxcar #67! Not sure when this photo was taken, but sure is nice to see that car 67 still survives and that WW&F is going to restore it.

Here's a photo that's been making the rounds, so to speak. The location is Bridgton Junction.

The Narrow Gauge Preservation Foundation (NGPF), whose mission is to enhance museum exhibits where the public can learn the story of narrow gauge railroading in a coherent, comprehensive, and entertaining manner, has selected the preservation and restoration of Bridgton & Saco River railroad boxcar 67 for a matching grant. Now at the WW&F railway museum, car 67 needs extensive repairs before it can be used in the educational mission of the museum.

Specifically, the NGPF is offering a 2:1 "challenge grant." For each $1 raised by a new donor to the WW&F Railway Museum specifically for this restoration, the NGPF will donate $2 – up to the budgeted amount for the restoration. In short, the WW&F needs $2400 of new donations to receive a $4600 grant from the NGPF – which will allow the WW&F to restore car 67 over the next several months.

Please show your support for this project by donating at: http://www.gofundme.com/car67

As of today we have reached our goal of $2500! Thanks to everyone who helped out. Keep an eye on our discussion forum http://forum.wwfry.org for progress reports on the boxcar work.

In anticipation of reaching the goal, on Saturday a small crew (sometimes only one person) photographed and then disassembled the majority of B&SR No. 67 above the floor. Once the flooring has been removed, the frame will be turned upside down to facilitate renewing rotted and damaged portions of the frame. There is a more detailed description of the plan, as well as photos, at http://www.wwfry.org.
