Interesting that AT&SF 999517 still has trucks. The junk yard caboose that I know of in Riverdale, Illinois, sits on the ground. That particular one is used as the office for the junk yard.

Kovalchick Salvage Company in Indiana, PA has at least four (ex-NYC? they are the green color) transfer cabooses. They are sitting on the ground (no trucks) but I would not be surprised if they had the trucks and knew where they were. There is other rail equipment there including lots of mine cars and mine motors (electric) a narrow-gauge Plymouth, some standard gauge locomotives (A Whitcomb and some GE's) and lots of other industrial/steam-punk -type "stuff".

Back in the early 80s, SEPTA sold off their MP54s to various junkyards which used them to store used auto parts and old tires. This photo is from a junkyard near Wilmington, DE in 1983.

Thanks for the great photo of the MP54 in the salvage yard near Wilmington. I remember they turned up at places on Airport Road, South Market Street, and even on Route 13 past Blackcat. The W&W got some parts from a few of those. I don't remember which ones. I think they are all gone by now. Do you know of any still around?
