buzz - Interesting that AT&SF 999517 still has trucks. The junk yard caboose that I know of in Riverdale, Illinois, sits on the ground. That particular one is used as the office for the junk yard. Les |

Kovalchick Salvage Company in Indiana, PA has at least four (ex-NYC? they are the green color) transfer cabooses. They are sitting on the ground (no trucks) but I would not be surprised if they had the trucks and knew where they were. There is other rail equipment there including lots of mine cars and mine motors (electric) a narrow-gauge Plymouth, some standard gauge locomotives (A Whitcomb and some GE's) and lots of other industrial/steam-punk -type "stuff". |

Back in the early 80s, SEPTA sold off their MP54s to various junkyards which used them to store used auto parts and old tires. This photo is from a junkyard near Wilmington, DE in 1983.

Thanks for the great photo of the MP54 in the salvage yard near Wilmington. I remember they turned up at places on Airport Road, South Market Street, and even on Route 13 past Blackcat. The W&W got some parts from a few of those. I don't remember which ones. I think they are all gone by now. Do you know of any still around? |
