I posted this on a couple of the list serves the other day, and I'm finally getting around to passing the word along here.
The TPRHS has begun a rolling stock collection!
We recently signed for a permanent loan of a Helium Tank Car (MHAX 1244) and the GE 65-ton switcher from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Helium Plant at Excel, TX.
This equipment represents a unique piece of local and national railroad history. For more info, please visit the recently-updated Texas Panhandle Railroad Historical Society website at...
http://www.tprhs.org/
Click on "Latest Additions" for info and photos of the engine and car.
-Jeff Ford
Well, Jeff. I just finished posting a brief on that very subject.
Since you raised the issue, any idea where you're going to put the stuff yet? How far is it from Excell to Amarillo? What railroad(s) would be involved in moving the switcher?
