If you take it loss, you may find a rating stamped on it. Alco locomotives have some similar to this and the rating is stamped on them. |

The rating will also be on the gauge. The shunt works by giving you a ratio of current through the gauge vs through the shunt. So if your gauge has 5A printed on it and full scales at 1000 A, you can assume this is a 1000A shunt with a ratio of 1:200 |

If you have the electrical print for the locomotive, on the far right side of the print is a listing of all the electrical parts used on the locomotive, find the loadmeter shunt and it should list the rated current and the output. Mike Tillger |

Ddatrainman wrote: Hello, Does anyone happen to know the current/amp rating for this Shunt unit? This is installed in a F7, and we're trying to make a modification. EMD Part # 8084131 [SNIP] Thanks! From Page 1 of this thread: http://www.rypn.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=39179. Open the "Page 1 of 6" of the print for the F7A. The schedule lists EMD 8084131 at Item Number 48 as a 1000A-100mV INDICATING METER SHUNT. All thanks should go to Owen S. Paulsen. R.C. Whitehead |
