Poured cast, extrusion cast or spin cast?

If you're making valve rings Bob, make sure you don't go with the poured cast.

Matt's suggestion sounds like a good one in your part of the country Bob.

Doyle had some cast for the '49's valve rings (12"), but I don't remember whether it came from a local outfit. He may be able to tell you, if he can still remember after all the Bondo exposure.

The Challenger has been running since 2000 with Techni-Cast C90500 centrifugal cast, fine grain structure for the bronze and CL30 (A-48-30) for the iron, also centrifugal cast. This was the closest match found to the HUNT-SPILLER Gun Metal Bronze and Gun Iron cast iron ring material.
Anybody want to guess where the phrases "Gun Metal" and "Gun Iron" came from?
PS Techni-Cast makes the special mix formulas for a very famous Texas valve and piston ring manufacturer.
