Would any knowledgable reader be interested in writing something on the former Southern Railway (UK) 4-6-2s? My listings show roughly 31 of these extant, many rescued from the Barry scrapyard. Several have been returned to steam and most of the others are under repair, with Merchant Navy class "Ellerman Lines" sectioned for display at the National Railway Museum. The stiff upper lip of the British really shows in saving these locomotives, many of which were/are in horrible shape. It's certainly a story worth telling. If something like this is already posted, please provide a link.

Post subject:  Holland American Line

A friend of mine at the KRM is giving me his collection of "Steam Railway" Magazined (Think British Trains Magazine, with L&RP thrown in, overall, a high quality publication that puts ours to shame in some areas). Anyway, a 1998 issue mentions that the group restoring the Bulleid Pacific Holland American Line was going to restore it back to its pre-rebuilt form, inside chain-driven valve gear, and "spam can" external casing. Anybody have any progress reports on this locomotive?
