I can't recall that posting, however I think you may be thinking of guidestar.org. If not, it is a good nonprofit site that shows 990 forms and so on. God Bless, Gerald W. You're looking for Guidestar.org, at http://www.guidestar.org I'd also suggest the Internet Nonprofit Center as a source of "sponge information" on nonprofit administration: http://www.nonprofits.org/ I've also included a link below to Form 990 information on the IRS website as an FYI Best Regards, John Isaksen johni@warwick.net IRS Form 990 information johni@warwick.net |

Yes, www.guidestar.org is the place to go to to view nonprofit Forms 990 filed with the IRS. However, you should focus on the 990, which the nonprofit completed, and not necessarily accept Guidestar's thumbnail financial overview of the organization without verifying its accuracy. The Guidstar financial summary of one rail history nonprofit that I have advised is inaccurate. Getting errors corrected is up to the nonprofit. Guidestar provides any nonprofit with the ability to set up password-protected access to communicate with Guidestar and edit its information on the site (but, obviously, not the 990s themselves). It behooves nonprofits to do exactly that and actively use the opportunity Guidestar provides to manage information about their organization. Per arrangement with the IRS, nonprofit 990's will be posted on Guidestar whether or not the nonprofits interact with the site. Unless a nonprofit takes intitiative to become involved with the site, Guidestar probably will not even know when they have made an error and, therefore, never are presented with an opportunity to make a correction.
