Anyone reading this on a Saturday night: At 8 pm EDT, on C-SPAN 3, a regular weekend feature, Lectures in History tonight, and I believe twice more this weekend (as well as watchable on-line after the first showing), noted railroad author and Clemson University history professor (as well as a 40+ year friend of mine from his Akron days) H. Roger Grant lectures on the rise and decline of electric interurban railways. Should be interesting for those interested in the subject.

Unfortunately, Dallas, TX does not have C-SPAM 3 in the Dish network. If anyone can record this program on a DVD, I would be willing to pay for the disk. If this program is to be rebroadcast on a different network later this week end, Please let me know so I can try to chase it down.

Well worth viewing and the on line feature of archiving is a handy service. Thanks for posting.

Now where was this class when I was in College?

Yeah, Steve. I took three classes from Roger in the 1970's when he was at U Akron, but he was still a very junior professor and really didn't offer such a specialized course at that point in his career. I can tell you that the lecture shown was classic Roger Grant, from the anecdotes to his references to states and cities by their nicknames. He's one of my favorite people to just sit and listen to expound. Him and John Hankey.
