What is a good source of information on US Army railroad equipment? The locomotives are well documented but the rest of the equipment is not.

google is your friend

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Eust ... y_Railroad

There are more hits that turn up on it.

What I never knew is they had a trench railroad in Germany.
Some things you never know like during the Afghanistan War they used Cavalry in the mountains, not train related but a curiosity nonetheless, being resourceful for the circumstances. Vehicles/trains would have a tough time in the mountains but horses, sure.

I kind of took it to mean he was looking for manuals for the equipment. If the army bought 4 wheel Fairmont pushcarts, they probably had a half inch thick booklet to go with it. I haven't seen any other then the locomotives, but I do know a guy who was a railroader in the army, I wonder if he kept any of his books......

Probably a good thing to track down these books, they were generally very simplified and comprehensive manuals on equipment nearly identical to the civilian version.

Thanks for the lead but I have already been there, both on line and in person. Mainly what I am looking for are records of the maintenance of way equipment including cranes, spreaders, etc.
