Post subject:  Forlorn depot...plans?

The wife and I took a side trip off of the Ohio Turnpike this past weekend, looking for Whitehouse, Ohio and a butterfly house. Our route took us through Waterville and I happened to spot the old Nickel Plate Road depot there. Naturally, I had to stop and take a few photos. This station was used by the Toledo, Lake Erie & Western tourist train operation, but they apparently have recently moved their operation to Grand Rapids, Ohio and with a major river bridge out of service on the line back toward Waterville, the future of this depot seems "up in the air". This has to be about the smallest depot I have ever seen. There is no entrance into a waiting room from the old platform and entrance for passengers had to be through a rear door, or possibly through the freight house doors if they were open. The structure sure has "charm" and the working train order board is a classic. With no operation apparently in the near future for the TLE&W into Waterville, I wondered what the plans might be for the little depot.

You should have seen the B&O depot that stood in Tontoganey, OH that was also in the Toledo area. It was REALLY small !
