Don't blame me for the short lead time--just found out about it moments ago.

Warren, Pa.: The PCCs (SEPTA 2160, 2728, and 2799) are being sold in a weeklong online auction:

The rest of the stuff, tomorrow:

http://wpdev.petersonauction.com/upcomi ... nojava%3D0

From elsewhere: "Warren Railcar used to be Warren Tank Car Co., which in addition to tank cars built circus train flat cars."

NOTE: These cars were originally rescued from SEPTA by the Baltimore Streetcar Museum and then resold to a group attempting to restart trolley service in Lancaster, Pa., from where they were shipped/sold to Warren. Throughout all of this, the BSM had a sale contract specifying that they a) retained right of first refusal on these cars and b) retained ownership of the "broad gauge" trucks and related parts underneath when removed/converted. BSM administration has been made aware of this sale offer.............

Oops... didn't see this thread.

I'll be there, since it's on the way home from the office. I don't know that I need any PCCs for the farm, though. Maybe a welding table and vise, though.

Update: Apparently, by the end of the day yesterday the online bidding portal for the 3 cars had been taken down. Also, as of this morning all references to the cars on the main auction page, and all the thumbnails and linked photos of the cars have also been removed.

Here are the thumbnails that I boosted off the photo gallery window (which I had left open on my machine overnight here at the office). I posted these as thumbnails that link to a larger photo size... but they are effectively only zooms of small thumbnails (because all the hyperlinks to the photos from the auctioneer's gallery page from yesterday are all now broken links). I apologize in advance for the poor quality of my links. I had not thought to save the original photos.

Rumor had it that they were instead included in the live auction.

Any update?

The Baltimore Streetcar Museum would LIKE to follow through with their proposed reclamation of the trucks and motor-generator sets, but doubts it's worth getting lawyers involved, from what I was told.

I suggest that the most likely short-term action would be to ask the Mike Peterson auction people directly:

http://petersonauction.hibid.com/auctions/current

then go to the little 'Feedback/Questions' at lower left, which is pre-selected as a 'question about auction listing' on my system.

I'm pretty sure they'd respond to an 'official' Baltimore request for status even if they were reluctant to contact an individual 'railfan' inquiry.

Update:

A purchase of all three is in the works which should satisfy everyone involved; however, I am loath to report details until everything is confirmed.

However, if any party still needs an original PCC body or two for refitting/rewiring to more modern propulsion/control and standard gauge (serious inquiries only, please), drop me a line and I'll pass word.

Sorry. I should have checked in here and updated everyone on the day of the auction. I was a little occupied trying to figure out how to get a 220# anvil out of my truck alone.

I spoke with the auctioneer at lunch on the day of the auction and he stated what you have... that there was a "right of first refusal" or w/e on the cars. He optimistically said that they hope to hear back from "that company" and move on with the auction.

He said that probably in a month when everything is worked out, they will auction the cars.

No, the cars did NOT sell at the live auction. I was there for every single lot.

Just for the record, the Baltimore Streetcar Museum isn't buying them.

As I said, it's a complicated deal. And Warren is a bit far from Baltimore for quick action.
