Sumpter Valley Railroad Restoration is pleased to announce a ground breaking ceremony at 11:00 AM Thursday Sept. 19, 2002. The new Sumpter depot will be built within the Oregon State Sumpter Dredge Heritage Area adjacent to Austin St in Sumpter. This single story stucture will be an approximately 2000 sq.ft. replica of SVRy depots, and will house ticket sales and a gift shop. Work crews are expected to begin construction the week of September 20, 2002 and completion is scheduled for May 1, 2003.

Austin Street will be extended into the Park Area this coming week prior to depot construction
