Follow the above link to my images from the abandoned trolley/streetcar graveyard in western Pennsylvania a few weeks ago.

​It amazes and astonishes me that places like this exist, and through the rust and decay the beauty and romance of a better vanished time can be found.
Mother Nature, as well as unfortunately vandalism and graffiti, has been hard on these machines, but glimpses of their former glory days are still evident.
A majority this 70+ piece collection of retired relics are from the tracks in Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Cleveland.

All photos taken on private property with full permission and consent of the owner.

I see two standard carbodies on blocks in one photo. I knew this was a PCC haven (see FAQ) but what's the story on the wooden bodies?

I noticed a heavyweight passenger car off to the side in one of your photos. Do you have another photo of that particular car that might show what it is? If so, thanks!

Thanks. I guess that answers Wesley's question about the wood street car bodies (from Grand Rapids, built 1912) and my heavyweight passenger car question (ex-Lehigh & New England). Would like a bit more info on the L&NE car though; perhaps that was previously given in another thread.

Why act like this location is a secret? 99.99% of all traction fans know exactly where it is, who owns it, and what name it operates under. If you're one of the 0.01% and really curious you could try PM'ing me......

Fixed that for you.

As it turns out, lots of folks apparently don't know about this, because it turns up routinely (I'd guess once a month or so) on "urbex" sites, more broad-subject Facebook pages like "Abandoned Rails" and "Trains, Trams, & Trolleys" (or whatever, made up the latter), etc, and every single time it's greeted with responses of both flabbergasted amazement and fascination and "oh, geez, not this again....."

A while back, someone on the Abandoned Rails FB page set up a good-humored "bingo card" of subjects that showed up repeatedly and regularly. In follow-up remarks, folks said to swap out the "Milwaukee Road (again)" square for the "PCC Graveyard". I think there might be some overlap with our FAQ........

Must confess I had to do a search on Russ Nelson's bicycle from the above.........!!

Agree with the regular appearance of the other topics though, even to someone on the other side of the Atlantic.

This is Lehigh & New England business car 100. It was used by the L&NE until the end (1961) and was also used during the scrapping operation (1962). It was sold to a restaurant in Strafford, PA and incorporated into the building. Around 20 years ago (?) it was removed from the site and apparently moved to this trolley location.

It is note worthy that a certain PRR steamer isn't on the card. And the National Park that used to be connected to said steamer. But love the thread drift :-)
